I'll still call it death metal but it's not death metal in the strictest sense. This outing from Gorefest is similar in style to the last album, "Erase", which was a bit slower for Gorefest and had a similar feel to Crowbar. There is a little more variety on Soul Survivor then there was on Erase, granted Soul survivor can get a little repetitive at times, but there are sections just completely rock. This masterpiece is not only the best of Gorefest, but one of the best Heavy Metal records i've heard 'till now. From the heavyness of Jan-Chris' voice to the amazing and melodic, though heavy, riffs of the two guitars, with amazing solos from both of them. Pay attencion to the evolution from the prior (also very good) Erase. If Death Metal is your stuff, don't loose it.
