Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Death Metal Classic!!
I first got into Malevolent Creation when I came upon "The Best of Malevolent Creation" which was a compilation of their best songs from the Roadrunner Records era about four years ago at my local music store. I never even heard of these guys before, but I decided to give them a shot and when I did listen to them, I was instantly hooked to Malevolent Creation, and they became one of my favorite death metal bands as well. A couple months ago, I purchased the band's 1991 Roadrunner Records debut "The ...

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - No one can destroy THIS malevolent creation...
Take the violent thrashing agility of 'Darkness Descends' and mix with the lethal catchiness of Deicide's debut album. This record provides a perfect example of why momentum is so important for this style of music. An exhilliarating listen, with no wasted space, and new depths to be mined with every listen. Buy this and feel invincible.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - One of the most solid and consistent first generation death metal albums
During the earlier days of death metal, before the sound of the scene became more uniform and less inventive, there were bands who did sound largely different from each other. Enter: Malevolent Creation. Although originally from Buffalo, NY the band wisely decided to relocate to the Ft. Lauderdale area. Malevolent Creation did occupy a lower tier on the Florida death metal radar, but their first two albums weathered time far better than quite a bit of their competition at the time and had a few tricks ...

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Stands the test of time
Old school Death Metal has always seem to stand the test of time more then Thrash (at least that is my opinion) and Malevolent's debut album, "The ten Commandments" is a excellent collabration of old school Flordia Death Metal. Ten tracks, nine of them outstanding, one flutters a bit, but thats an easy five star effort from a band, even that has gone through many changes, are still putting out great music. If you are new to the band, forget The Best of Malevolent Creation, it is basically this album and ...

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - My second-favorite MC album...
First off, to set the record straight, the reviewer below incorrectly stated the drummer is Dave Culross on this one, it's actually Mark Simpson.

With that said, I know everyone wonders "Why not 4 stars?" The drumming on this album is horrific, but it honestly fits the songs perfectly. I really do enjoy this album. The only gripe is, Simpson doesn't use "blast beats", he more or less hits both the drum pedals with the snare, so it just doesn't sound right; however, again, it fits the music ...
