I will never know why people trash this Malevolent Creation album besides for the production/mixing quality...something which the band has little control over. The band has always acknowledged this was a difficult period for them (read: drug problems) and Brett doesn't have the most stunning vocal performance here but all things considered and especially with the couple of efforts that came after this, "Stillborn" is still a top notch album.
The riffs via Phil Fasciana and the more ...

Malevolent Creation on their peak, period!!! The songs are heavy, not faster than "Ten Commandments" or "Retribution", but really good. The production is not good at all, but remember this album came out on 93', you know... if you are a MC fan like me, this is essential but hard to find and out of print, also check out "The Ten Commandments" and "Retribution", believe me, this three albums are the only worth buying!!

I LOVE THIS RECORD. I remember in '93 when Stillborn came out everybody hated it? I cant see why. Sure the music is a bit slower but I think its killer. I think the songwriting is excellent. Title track Stillborn is one of the heaviest Deathmetal songs ever composed. Geared for Gain and Ethnic Cleansing are skull fracturing. Brett Hoffman's vocals are brutal as hell. The production is thick, with a lot of low end. Basically Stillborn is a lot like Retribution only the songs are more mid paced. I ...

this album does not deserve all the slagging it gets. Stillborn was my first exposure to MC. I was working at a music review mag in NYC in the early-mid 90s, when this cassette came into the office. i was supposed to write a review then. but i only listened to it once and didn't really pay attention... it was death-metal (read: UGH!!).
Anyway, about a year later i was going thru some forgotten music. Stillborn... Malevolent Creation... hmmm. Well, just think about hearing Dominated Resurgency ...

This is another great release from Malevolent Creation. Before you complain about the sound quality of the album, you have to take into consideration that in the early 90's recording equipment wasn't as advanced as today. The cd has a mono effect to it which works great with death metal. Plus Malevolent Creation probably wanted the cd to sound the way it does. Either way this is a kick ass cd from Malevolent Creation. If you like death metal and are a fan of Malevolent Creation this is a must have cd. ...
