Before writing this review I kept trying to think of other bands to compare DAR to so you might be able to get an idea of what they sound like, but after serious thought I couldn't come up with any comparison. These guys aren't like anything else I've heard. They're an amazing blend of brutal death metal/black metal and hauntingly beautiful keyboards and yes, even violins. So this summer a few friends and i were discussing maybe going to europe to go to a metal fest or two, and i noticed on every fest i saw there was this band called "Die Apokalyptischen Reiter". So i go "okay ill check this band out" and after hunting down their website i heard a soundclip from Unter der Asche and it blew me away. I immediately went out and got this cd, and it is just phenominal. I will agree that it has hints of older Dark tranquility, but it tends to be more black metal influenced, ...

I got to listen to this cd by chance when I was going through some heavy stuff in the cd shop. I only listened for about 2 mins and bought the cd. If you like 80's thrash and the likes of Dark Tranquillity you should definitely buy this album. Other recommendations would be: anything by Dark Tranquillity, Enter my silence, In Flames (first 3 albums), Withering Surface.
