Editorial Review:
Amazon.com: Dimmu Borgir aren't fooling anyone who knows Emperor and Enslaved as to the true origins of its basic musical plan. Judging by the group's popularity, legitimacy doesn't really matter. In a field overrun by erratic innovators, Dimmu Borgir are a friendly face to fans who stumbled into the catacombs of black metal by way of Cradle of Filth's comical casino. So, as this gigantic gaggle of evil keyboard-wielding Yanni spawn increasingly represents the marketable side of Norwegian black metal, the more enormous and slick grows their sound. With significant melodic classical influence and lots of five-dollar words, the digital jesters construct huge plastic cathedral-sized heavy metal dance halls for the purpose of desecrating virtual-reality saints. Goons gurgle, hounds howl, fret boards flutter furiously, choirs complain to the heavens, and tiny gateways to Hades blink open and shut. It's all devilishly dirty, and in the end nobody gets hurt. --Ian Christe

This is the album that got me into European metal.
Absolutely amazing, devastating drums accompany shredding and sailing guitar riffs all punctuated with that distinct growl. The production is incredible, basically I can't say enough about this album. If you're not sure how you feel about metal, listen to this album

Ok, I'm writing this with "Kings Of The Carnival Creation" blaring in the background. Before I bought this, I had only ever heard 2 songs from it, so I was going from that and other peoples' reviews on here. This album blew my mind...not one bad track on it. But my favorites would have to be "Kings..." and "Hybrid Stigmata - The Apostasy". I currently own 4 Dimmu albums and this is my favorite one out of "In Sorte Diaboli", "Enthrone Darkness Triumphant" and "Spiritual Black Dimensions". I honestly ...

anyone who loves (symphonic) black metal, or dimmu borgir should buy this album. it is by far their best work, along with stormblast and death cult armageddon.
starting with their the first intro song fear and wonder, you get a whiff of the classical touch this album has. then from the second song on its all a head banging wonder. #3, kings of the carnival shows you a twisted side of dimmu, with some sweet guitar riffs and machine gun style blast beats.
then hybrid stygmata ...

This is a pretty good album from Dimmu. There are ups and downs on this one. In my opinion what makes this album so good is Nicholas. His drumming is insane! Shagrath's vocals could have been a little better. I wasn't too crazy about the special effects. Guitars are good as usual thanks to Silenoz and Galder. Overall this is a great album to have in your Dimmu Borgir collection. If your new to this band and your an old school black metal fan such as myself, I'd say go for their older stuff like "Enthrone ...

An old friend suggested this album to me, and although I'm not a huge black metal fan, I gave it a shot. I was totally blown away by the musicianship on this album. What a beautifully crafted album!!!! This will not be my last Dimmu Borgir album purchase. I'm hooked!!!!!!
