Editorial Review:

Amazon.com:
On an initial listen to Pass out of Existence, Chimaira sometimes bear the hallmarks of being little more than a copycat band following along in the scorched-earth wake of the mighty Slipknot. Still, there's much evidence that Chimaira have arrived at this point as much through innovation as imitation. The six-man metal crew's debut is built around a bludgeoning old-school thrash-metal dynamic, jackhammer drumming, primal-scream lyrics, and brutally applied electronic loops. "Dead Inside" marries its powerhouse chorus to spacious, Tool-like passages and bursts of industrial wizardry, while the sinister "Abeo" proves that for all Chimaira's passion for extreme metal, they're far more than one-trick ponies. Slipknot fans will find much to enjoy here, notably the supertight, percussion-heavy "Painting the White to Grey" and the epic, tortured 12-minute closer, "Jade." --Louis Pattison

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - I'LL PASS
I like heavy metal. I don't like this. I saw Black Sabbath during their Master of Reality tour, I saw Judas Priest when they had Les Binks on drums, I've seen Loudness, Iron Maiden and Accept. I'm not here to bash this CD just because I don't like it. I know there's a market for this and this style of metal has its fans. I'm not one of them. Any time you have these growling 'I'm dying' vocals you instantly lose me. I find this style of metal depressing. If this your cup of tea then hey, go for it, ...

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - HeavY!
Even tough chimaira's first album was nu metal which doesn't even sound like nu metal only a few sounds, overall is a pretty kick a's album. It's not their best but it's pretty brutal and heavy this is much more like a way heavier slipknot that's why it might seem nu metal and the only people who won't like this are true nu metal fans those who listen to those wannabe's bands like korn and rappers. This to me only sounds metal and not nu so if you have chimaira's other albums i say you should check this ...

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - If you like this.....
Then you fail at life.

In all seriousness though, this is some of the worst hard rock I have ever heard. There are 6 members of the band, including 1 DJ, and about the total musical talent of a bunch of whiny, angst ridden kids who just took up instruments last week, who, incidently, these guys are/were.

Look elsewhere for actual music.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Awesome album
This CD Rocks! If you like any of Chimaira's other albums, you will sove this one too. Very hard, makes you wanna punch your best friend in the face.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - A good starting point...
Okay, so their debut may not be the masterclass that their sophomore and third albums are hailed to be by fans but it still serves up some brutal tracks that will please any fan of the band. The first song I ever heard by this band was the impressive `Dead Inside' with creepy sound effects and infectious guitar and drum work. I was instantly intrigued, but it wasn't until listening to the entire album that I can say I was hooked. The best tracks here are the aforementioned, the brutally melodic `Painting ...
