Editorial Review:
Album Description: The band recorded Death Cult Armageddon with a full-blown orchestra, this time with a forty-eight piece orchestra from Prague. Returning with manic axe-man Galder (founder/mastermind of Old Man's Child) and arguably metal's finest skinsman, Nick Barker (Cradle Of Filth, Old Man's Child), both of whom joined the band on Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia, Dimmu Borgir continue on the path with their all-star line-up towards domination! Nuclear Blast. 2003.

in addition to Nick's drumming on this album, Dimmu Borgir aligned themselves with an orchestra. you could almost eat a candlelight dinner to this album. song no.2 sounds like it is galloping along. the standout song is "For the World to Dictate Our Death", which is on Century Media's "Metal For The Masses". it doesn't matter who the drummer is for Dimmu Borgir. whether Tjodalv, or Barker, or Hellhammer on the skins, they kick some serious rump. also this album marks the beginning of the guitars ...

An orchestra?
Brilliant!!!
Just as good as Puritanical.
Start to finish, amazing,unique,brutal.
If your new to Dimmu, this is a great place to start.
A classic.
Vortex's vocals? So good, it hurts.
Barker's drums? Unreal!!!
The rest of the band?
Unequaled by thier peers!

Dimmu Borgir Pumps Out An Extremely Heavy Song When They Made "Progenies Of The Appocalypse" They Use A Whole Orchestra Rather Than Just The Classic Electric Bass And Guitar, Drums Etc. Etc. From Begining To End This Album Makes New To Old Metal Heads Band Their Heads All Day Long. Highly Addictive, A Must Have.

I like this type of music, so I can't give it a bad rating just on that fact alone. However, this particular CD is not up to the five star rating. There is no question these guys have a good thing going, but there is just something lacking.
When I listen to this CD, a lot of the time I am reminded of Cradle of Filth, and even some Borknagar in spots. The playing is excellent and the vocals are not bad. However, after several listens, I cannot dig out any specific melody or riff that ...
