Editorial Review:
Album Description: Korpiklaani (Forest Klan), from the mystic forests of Finland, present an indisputable Folk Metal achievement with Spirit of the Forest. The musical offerings of the band utilize traditional instruments such as the flute, jouhilkko and accordion, alongside modern guitars, bass and drums. Spirit of the Forest is an unique release from a band that stands for quintessential Finnish music.

While enjoyable, I can't justify giving this a higher rating because I consider Tales Along This Road to be superior primarily because of the presence of accordion. That said, I don't regret getting it.

Ok, I'm not a fan of super brief reviews, but in this case I think short and sweet is best.
If you are a fan of, or have an interest in, viking/folk metal, BUY THIS ALBUM. You will not regret this purchase, as Korpiklaani are among the best in the genre.

Tracks like "Wooden pints", "Shaman drum","Man Can Go Even Through the Grey Stone," and "With Trees" are among my favorites and get stuck in your head after the first time of hearing them. "Pellonpekko" and "Mother Earth" are tremendously ...

Imagine if you will that Metallica had been asked to do the soundtrack to Braveheart. That is what much of this album sounds like. I don't speak Finnish but I do enjoy this quite a bit. Where else does metal guitar and accordian gel so well?
