2005's Forged by Fire is the third album from Greek power metal band Firewind. Firewind, of course, is a side project of Dream Evil (and now Ozzy Osbourne) guitarist Gus G. There was a vocalist change for this album, with Chity Somapala replacing Stephen Frederick.
Forged by Fire isn't too far removed stylistically from previous Firewind albums. It's a melodic power metal album that relies heavily on Gus G's considerable guitar talents. Listening to him blaze away you can totally understand ...

At first I found Firewind to sound like a lot of other metal bands and was thinking of giving it 3 stars. But on the second and third listens I changed my opinion. There are some excellent riffs here and overall very good guitar playing. The solos are pretty standard from song to song but it's made up for by the band as a whole sounding so good together. So here it is, a firewind album. Why I give it two stars? Well maybe a certain creativity is missing. It may be spectacular in the late early 80's but definitley not now. I am giving this two stars because they had a cool album cover. But, if you like Hammerfall and all that talentless [...] then you'll love firewind.

Nice speedy power metal with riffs galore. Gus is a master of the axe and the band is really solid. A must have if you like power metal done traditionally with modern sounds and playing. The singer has a great voice and check out his other band, Midnight Agony.

The lead singer has a David Coverdale/Klaus from Scorpions type voice. Lots of Zakk Wylde/Malmstein type riffs. Solid drumming, keyboards and big choruses. Also a guest solo from James Murphy and Marty Freidman help add the kick butt factor as well. Maybe if there was like one or two more songs and one of them was blistering fast then it would probably be a 5 star album. Get this. Itll take a few listens to get use to it but its great power metal. GuS G never fails to please. Beware The Beat, Tyranny , and ...
