'La Muerte' marks the sixth album in a career dating back to 1989 for Holland's Gorefest - a band who have had an exceptionally dedicated following since the early 1990s. After disbanding in 1998 fans figured it was all over. Lo-and-behold another bloody reunion. But, it's definitely a positive for all involved. 'La Muerte', it seems, has been well worth the effort. The albums plays through at a fairly mid-tempo pace, while quite a menacing mood is created combining counteracting sustained and muted riffs, galloping drums and drawn out Lee Dorrian-esque vocals. The dutch metallians GOREFEST releases their brand new album, LA MUERTE, the follow up to CHAPTER 13, back in 1998, when the band decided to break up. Now, with a more refined but aggressive sound and touch, the band returns with one of the most complete albums of their discography. With CHAPTER 13's heavy sound, the band managed to recapture the feeling of the FALSE/ERASE sessions, delivering an album with different musical layers. The album all the fans have been waiting for a long time...

Gorefest sounds like a sped-up version of At The Gates being led by Mark "Barney" Greenway of Napalm Death. this is the first album by Gorefest that I have listened to, and I hope they make another one soon.
