Editorial Review:

Album Description:
For the thirty minutes that this nine-song release played on, I couldn't help but think of what I was going to write. I mean, the music found here was a bizarre arrangement of flutes, keyboards, abstract guitar plucking and a real trollish-like feel. After all, the label claims in the bio (get this, ehehehehe) that Finntroll do "trollish metal no one else."; I wonder if Arkanum has been contacted about this -- he might be pissed. Anyway, the trollish sounds of Finntroll are rather exciting; a little odd, yes, but for the most part creative due to their use of folkish instruments and keyboards. I laugh with each listen of this at what I wrote about in my In Extremo review [CoC #42]. If In Extremo had been talented and not drunk on their asses (it sure sounded that way), then the results could have been somewhat worthy of repeated listens. The music of Finntroll is definitely worthy of it, though it does come across as cheesy sometimes. Worthy of a chance, I say. Note: contains members of Barathrum, Rapture and Moonsorrow.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - TROLL POWER NYERGH
What is Finntroll? Black metal + polka. Does it work? Oh yes. To start off, Finntroll isn't too far of an offshoot from the controversial symphonic black metal movement, with their synth-heavy misanthropic noise, but they avoid what makes certain peers terrible by not taking themselves seriously... At all. Despite the strained screaming and lyrics about eating Christians, the music is very jovial, bringing to mind a bunch of trolls drinking ale in the woods. Infectious "Um PA um PA" thythms, irregularly ...

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - well I'm sure that they gave it their all
There ain't much to say it's just the same ol' finntroll blending death metal with hummpa, which sounds like music you would hear in a kid's Disney movie. One problem is that it's short, just under half an hour. Another thing is that the vocalist got on my nerves on some of the songs because his voiced sounded like it was a little worn out. You can hear clear vocals on some parts to some songs just like on Jaktens Tid. There are 2 instrumental pieces using the keyboard and some of the songs kinda have ...
