Editorial Review:
Album Description: The Polish metal kings have returned with a new offering, The Apostasy, which is destined to become both the defining release of the band's career and one of the most revered and dynamic offerings the genre has seen in years. Behemoth will kick off their worldwide touring cycle with a second stage headlining spot on Ozzfest 2007.
Album Details: We Are Extremely Proud to Offer You the New Masterpiece of Polish Extreme Metal Titans Behemoth! Once Again Behemothh Rises above Everything They've Done Before and Sets a New High for Technical and Extreme Metal! the Apostasy Proves that Behemoth Stands at the Very Pinnacle of the Metal Scene - and that They Are There to Stay! the Album was Recorded in the Band's Hometown of Gdansk with Nergal (Vocals, Guitars) and Longtime Sound Engineer Malta in the Producers' Chairs. The Effort was Mixed with the Acclaimed Daniel Bergstrand (In Flames, Meshuggah, Syl) at Dugout Studios in Sweden and Mastered by Bjorn Engelmann (Rammstein). While Most Bands Struggle to Evolve and Stay Vital Within the Extreme Music Genre, Behemoth Manages to Do So Effortlessly. The Apostasy is Destined to Continue the Legacy .

I'm a huge fan of Behemoth, so its disappointing to write this little blurb. Unfortunately, sandwiched between the masterpieces that are Demigod and Evangelion, is this sorry effort. The Apostasy is a study in randomly ordered blast beats, growling, and breakdown riffing. It seemed like the only idea Behemoth had for this album was to make it as loud and incoherent as possible. There is zero flow to the majority of the songs, or the album in general. "Rome CE 64" and "At the Left Hand Ov God" ...

The Apostasy being Behemoth's 2007 release and their 8th studio album is great album of Blackened Death Metal that reminds me of the theatrics of Skinny Puppy in that they mix theatre and music. The guitar riffs are as heavy as they come and the drumming is amazing. All the lyrics are included and also a list of whom plays along with a list of what comapanies they like, e.g., Evans Drumheads. The photos are a bit busy and could been made a little clearer. Chronicles of Chaos gave this album 8.5/10 ...

This is just a brutal, loud, awesomne, fast, precise, black metal extravaganza. You want an album that drowns out everything else, this is your album. Pure musicianship.

After beginning their career as a black metal band in the early '90s, Behemoth has evolved more and more toward death metal with each release. The Polish group's latest effort has a few black metal influences, but moves even further towards death metal. The Apostasy is a crushing album that also has fantastic musicianship. Behemoth also infuses some Middle Eastern influences into a few of the songs, which adds an interesting flavor. Inferno's drumming is really good, and whether he's playing blast ...

Sometimes when you scratch below the surface, you find brilliance. This is what you have to do with Behemoth's Apostasy. Right off the bat, I should say that this is my first Behemoth album. As a point of reference artists I am listening to right now are Bloodbath, Akercocke, Dissection, Opeth, and Ahab. Behemoth has been likened to a more subdued version of Nile. I should also say that I do not like Nile based on my numerours attempts to listen to Black Seeds of Vengeance, which I regard as pure noise. ...
