Editorial Review:
Album Description: In This Moment member, Howorth, describes the concept behind their 2008 album: 'The basic idea behind calling our new album The Dream is that inside dreams anything can happen, all the things that seem impossible or unreachable in the `real world' become a reality in your dreams. We've always been a band that believes in the power of dreams and that believing is creating. We wanted to make a record that you can lay down with, shut off the lights and have a total outerbody experience. We also wanted the record to be like a rollercoaster ride with explosive highs, beautiful lows and everything in between. Maria took her vocals to the next level and explored all the possibilities. Everyone will be surprised by all the melody, passion and strength she brings to the record.'

I'll admit, I'm not a fan of metalcore or ITM's first album. I love heavy music, but I have to have clean vocals, female vocals are even better. This album delivers! It's heavy, moody, high and low. Maria Brink can scream... and it's awesome. On this album, it's controlled and used for effect. There's no screaming just for the sake of screaming an entire song. Best of all, no cookie monster growls.
Yes, this album has it's pop moments. It's unfair to lump this band in with Paramore, ...

I bought this a few days ago as a gamble because I was not familiar with ITM. I won big time of that gamble this is one of the best albums I have heard in a while. I was totally delighted with it.
I adore female fronted bands. This was not a let down. I love the guitar work it actually sounds good not too fast to decern any trace of pleasant nuance. Very little screaming and hollering. I like to hear a girl sing not imitate a pig that fell into a meat grinder.
I like the cohesive ...

When they released their debut album "Beautiful Tragedy" they were a kind of MetalCore come Goth Metal Band...They experimented with Harsh Vocals & Screams suddenly changing in to beautiful vocals & whispers..It was refreshing...'Otep' does the same thing but "In This Moment" was more in to the Goth style vocals...
Thats why I loved this band then...Suddenly the new album is like they turned 180 degrees & decided to become evanescence ??? WTF ????
Who's brilliant idea was this ? The ...

I didn't become a fan until late last year and it was Beautiful Tragedy that got me hooked. After checking out The Dream, I was blown away. There are a bunch of fans that are disapointed with this new direction but it's perfectly normal. A lot of bands tend to evolve for better or worse but it's definetly something positive for In This Moment. One of the greatest thing about this album is Maria's vocals. I didn't think she could sing that well judging by the debut but she definetly proved me wrong here. Her voice ...

In This Moment are one of those bands that u are so glad you are a fan of because you know they will be big. Much like Blink 182 and Incubus who started out small and got huge I predict the same for this band. The Dream is a much better effort than their first album Beautiful Tragedy, more hooks, better songs and Maria Brinks' vocals have improved, I just cant wait to see what they come with next....
