Editorial Review:Album Description:with acclaimed producer Don Gilmore (Avril Lavigne, Linkin Park, Pearl Jam) at the famed NRG Studios in Los Angeles. This new effort is another huge step forward in the band's continuous evolution and marks their first full-length since 2006's Karmacode. Cristina Scabbia (vocals) states: "Shallow Life is a natural metamorphosis from within the band; we explored different musical territories while maintaining our own style. A mix of old and new, fast and slow and light and dark. The album production is incredibly powerful and has a beautiful purity to it. Shallow Life has forced us to challenge ourselves. It represents the way we see ourselves in the days we live in through truth, love and lies."

'Nuff said. While I am fully aware the Lacuna Coil has been around a considerable time in the underground goth-metal scene (and longer than both those I previously compared their sound to), this foray into Middle-Eastern tinged radio-friendly territory does little for them professionally. Cristina's vocals are powerful but lack the emotional rawness of say, Amy Lee from Evanascence. Andrea, the male singer, does little for me regarding the addition of value to the vocal presence with his gravelly ...

The best thing I can say about this album is that they streamlined it for free, which spared me actually spending money. I only regret that I can't be refunded of the hours of my life spent trying to find something good to say about this album. THERE JUST ISN'T ANYTHING! Don't give me that BS about Cristina's amazing voice. If all you care about is a pretty voice, there are plenty of women doing that without a pretentious Nu-metal-band backing them. And if you like the blending of a female vocalist with ...

An excellent addition to the Lacuna Coil catalog. The entire album has a noticeable improvement in production quality and sound compared to earlier albums like In a Reverie and Comalies. While Andrea Ferro's vocals continue to stain the Lacuna Coil sound, Cristina's refreshing and powerful performance more than make up for it. Her voice has matured and developed into a distinctive sound that any music lover can recognize and appreciate. The album has a superior lineup with each track complementing the next. ...

*REVIEW*
I heard the hype, I believed the hype! So finally I broke down and purchased a Lacuna Coil album. Now I'm thinking maybe I should have invested my money in one of the older albums. This is without a doubt one of the worst CD's I've ever heard. I thought I was ...
