Editorial Review:Album Description:Echoes of Eternity - As Shadows Burn From their beginning, the musical goals of Echoes of Eternity's sonic alchemy have been to combine the power & aggression of extreme metal with the musicianship of progressive metal and complete the sound with the beautiful dynamics of the female voice. Their vision is still very much intact on their sophomore release, As Shadows Burn. A wiser, more mature band have emerged and are ready to impress fans and critics once again. On their debut, The Forgotten Goddess, the band went from being relatively unknown to touring North America with legends and genre stalwarts Symphony X, Edguy, Into Eternity, Trail of Tears and more. Though critics initially dismissed them as one of the myriad of female-fronted bands trying to capitalize on the success of bands like Lacuna Coil and Evanescence, they were quickly silenced as the band wowed audiences. As Shadows Burn is an exciting glance at a band ever growing and evolving into the leaders of the new wave of prog metal!

Not jawdropping like their first album but this second by E of E is quite good. Solid and powerful sound, good clean presence and nice riffs. The lady singer may not sound as cool as in Forgotten Goddess but non the less her voice goes along fine with the tracks. I hope they will try to recapture the magic of that first album for the next one.

The mixing is bad, there is no bottom end.Where is the bass? This chick is hot,but does not have a metal voice. She should try country.

A very polished, professional offering from one of my favorite metal bands. As Shadows Burn has deeply moving lyrics, amazing vocals, and powerful drumming. Followers of Echoes of Eternity will find this CD to be more "real" than the first one, in that it has less of a "engineered" studio sound, and more of a live performance feel. WONDERFUL!!!!!
