Editorial Review:
Album Description: Brutally intense, unrelenting and outright savage are just a few ways the metal community will describe the new offering from Montreal's hottest export DESPISED ICON as their new full-length effort, Day of Mourning, is a true lesson in violence. In 2009, the Montreal metal titans, DESPISED ICON, look to redefine the genre they pioneered. You have been warned.

Imagine Anvils flying at 200 mph in a synchronized technical dance. There's the music. Heavy as F, tough as F, Hardcore as F. Listen for all the intricacies. real good stuff here. Drummer is insane nuts and the riffs are smart and well written heavy hardcore style.

Despised Icon are back again with another blistering release. This is a 4.5 for me, but amazon does not allow that rating. Anyway best guitar sound yet, and the band has added a few sonic 808 bass boom parts that create a killer atmosphere. Best tracks: title track, mvp, black lungs, made of glass, diva of disgust. Missing are the amazing pig squeals. I really loved thoses vocals, they were brutal and fun. Some of the blasts are grindcore fast. Like mvp-it gets to grindcore type speed-it's ...

I think The Ills Of Modern Man was a very hard record to top for Despised Icon, but no need to worry. Day Of Mourning has everything that made that album what it is and more, but without the pig squeals from the previous records. Anybody that loved the band for the usage of these pig squeals would probably be too close-minded to handle listening to the band without them. If you can get past this however, you'll love the new album. New guitarist Ben Landreville and bassist Max Lavelle really show that ...

AAAAHHH! Is all I could think of when the first song Les Temps Changent came blasting through my ears. It sent me into an uncontrollable frenzy of flailing and head banging. The leads that Jarrin pound out in Eulogy and Black Lungs are amazing. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the best deathcore album of 2009. Also, if you do have the chance to see them live DONT MISS IT or you definitely will be sorry.

Despised Icon is back. I really enjoy listening to this album. I can't say much about this album, but what I do have to say about this album is that this album shreds. I think this is one of the best death metal albums of 2009. Go see them live if you can.
