Editorial Review:

Album Description:
DARK FORTRESS are one of Europe's most promising black metal acts. The new material on Ylem show DARK FORTRESS further developing their epic and sinister sound by honouring the classic traditions of old school black metal yet still progressing as songwriters.

Album Description:
2010 album from the German Black Metal outfit. Ylem is a fascinating, spine chilling Black Metal masterpiece that embraces slow, very heavy parts and orchestral darkness, but also insane blastbeats and tons of killer riffs to break your neck to. Century Media.

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - almost as good as eidolon
this album is a good. "dark fortress" has a black metal style that is their own. the words are audible and in english making it possible to sing along.
best songs(imo) 1. satan bled 2. osiris
my friend thinks it might be better than "eidolon"(previous album)

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Very great progression for this band

However, even without that "Ylem" stands out as perhaps the best album of this very young year. And I don't say such things lightly (I usually agonize very much over which is "best of year X"). While the previous album "Eidolon" with new vocalist Morean was excellent, it was more straight-forward than the brilliant 2 albums that came before ...
